HTC, Acer, Dell & Toshiba prep Honeycomb tablets

As of today, only Motorola XOOM is the Android 3.0 Honeycomb laiden tablet that has been visible in the market. Soon four major OEMs would be joining the Android based tablet scene with 10-inch display bearing tablets. PreCentral has got their hands on exclusive details about HP TouchPad priced $499 arriving in June this year. Along with that details of tablet from other brands were also mentioned in the image of the tablet launch schedule document.

According to the leaked image, HTC, Acer, Dell and Toshiba would be introducing Android 3.0 Honeycomb based tablets in June. Possibly these tablets would be displayed at the COMPUTEX 2011 Expo in Taipei, Taiwan. After introducing the 10-inch display bearing HP TouchPad for $499, the company is planning to launch a 7-inch tablet.

HTC has already unveiled the 7-inch display bearing HTC Flyer with 1.5Ghz CPU and 32GB on-board memory is expected to arrive later this month in select markets. On the other hand Acer already showed couple of tablets last year and we spotted a 10.1-inch tablet being previewed. Last month, Dell s tablet roadmap got leaked and considering that document, we can expect to see Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet branded as Gallo which is expected to be shown in April.

Toshiba would be joining the Tablet game with a 10.1-inch Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet allegedly called Antares. It s the same tablet that was shown at the Mobile World Congress 2011. The prices of these new Android 3.0 Honeycomb based tablets (Wi-Fi Versions) are expected to be somewhere between $449 to $549 which is quite competitive to the iPad 2 starting at $500 with the base model.

In coming months we'll get to see more tablets from different OEMs and lets hope this segment doesn't get overloaded with several models.
