Initially, many thought that Nokia CEO Stephen Elop (who previously worked for Microsoft) had something to do with the deal, which he probably did, but according to recent reports it seems that there is a much bigger power at work: money. That’s right, according to these reports Microsoft paid Nokia full $1 billion to utilize the Windows Phone 7 platform as opposed to a competitor like Google’s Android. Of course, seeing how this is just a report there’s no telling if it’s true or not but considering how high profile the deal was anything less than $1 billion wouldn’t seem correct.
