Following the release of the webOS 3.0 SDK to developers signed up to Palm's Early Access program, HP is further courting studios by offering them the opportunity to get their hands on the TouchPad.
(Something we sadly weren't allowed to do at Mobile World Congress 2011.)
The company is currently in the process of inviting select developers to Palm's HQ in Sunnyvale, California.
Those lucky enough to be picked – chosen from studios already signed up to the program – are given the opportunity to test their TouchPad apps on the device itself, as well as gaining insight from Palm's webOS development team.
Touching the TouchPad
"We want to give developers all the support they need to get great apps ready in time for TouchPad’s big summer launch," the firm says on its developer centre blog.
"We think these developer sessions are going to provide the boost developers need to create high quality apps quickly and easily, so we want to make them available to as many developers as we can."
HP claims each two day workshop is designed to ensure TouchPad apps are fully optimised for the hardware, with the firm also proffering guidance on the Enyo framework, plug-in development kit (PDK) and UI/UX.
It's a process that's set to be expanded to other cities soon, though HP doesn't clarify whether that's just in the US, or whether TouchPad will soon gain a European base .
Developers looking to take part in the next developer session – kicking off on April 28 – need to sign up for a developer account and join the Early Access program to be in with a chance.
