LG possibly looking at MeeGo for smartphones

It appears that LG might be looking to capitalize on Nokia's move away from the MeeGo operating system. This week LG joined a MeeGo working group that is tasked with creating a version of the Linux-based OS for smartphones. Reuters quotes a MeeGo technical steering group member, Intel's Valtteri Halla, as saying that Nokia's departure is "opening opportunities for the others to come in. Discussions are taking place. You'll see things coming out this year, pretty soon." Halla previously worked for Nokia, but left the company after Nokia announced its deal with Microsoft to use Windows Phone 7.
