LG returns to Taiwan tablet market

Taipei, Nov. 20 (CNA) Tablet computers from LG Electronics Inc., the world's fourth-largest smartphone maker, are coming back to Taiwan after a two-year absence, as the South Korean firm gears up to launch its new 8.3-inch device in the Taiwan market.

The G Tablet 8.3 is only LG's second tablet to hit the Taiwan market, according to Jackie Kim, director of mobile business at LG Taiwan. The company released the Optimus Pad in Taiwan in September 2011.

Set for store shelves Nov. 25 with a price tag of NT$9,900 (US$336), LG aims to sell 20,000 Wi-Fi only G Tablets in 10 months, said Kim, who declined to reveal sales numbers of the Optimus Pad.
