Samsung Electronics Co.005930.SE -1.28% wants the world to know how much it really needs software developers.
After holding its first-ever developers conference in San Francisco last month, Samsung made the trek to Europe on Tuesday for a one-day shindig at the London Film Museum.
The Suwon, South Korea-basedsmartphone manufacturer, hasn’t been shy about its attempts to woo app developers, which the company sees as essential in its efforts to compete withApple Inc.AAPL +0.18% and other manufacturers of smartphones running Google Inc.’s Android operating system.
The Korean hardware company is racing to build a suite of software and services exclusive to Samsung devices. But with little to show for from its own internal efforts, Samsung has awakened to the virtues of harnessing outside talent.
