I have in my hand—well, two hands—the HTC One Max, big brother to the HTC One. Although it’s not the biggest phablet on the market, it’s still massive. Measuring 5.9 inches diagonally, it falls between the smaller 5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the 6.4-inch Sony Xperia Z Ultra in display size. And it’s heavier than both. It’s no surprise that the Note 3 is a lighter 5.9 ounces, but the One Max, at 7.65 ounces, actually weighs a smidgen more than the Xperia Z Ultra (7.5 ounces).
For its first phablet, HTC decided to keep the signature look that fans of the original HTC One love. Despite that strong family resemblance, the HTC One Max manages to throw some new features into the mix, including a fingerprint scanner and expandable storage. But does its considerable bulk justify these additions?
