HTC Takes to Times Square as Black Friday Nears

When Samsung Electronics Co.005930.SE +0.96% launched its Galaxy S4 smartphone in New York in March, HTC Corp.2498.TW +0.95% had tried to steal a bit of the thunder by promoting its handsets nearby.

Now Samsung’s Taiwanese rival is aiming for center stage itself.
HTC has taken its latest marketing campaign to Times Square, where it set up an interactive billboard on Monday as part of a contest to win a free 24-karat gold-plated HTC One, its flagship smartphone. The photos that participants send in will be shown on the big screen, and the two that get the most votes will win the phones, a company spokeswoman said.
