Google has announced that Android 4.4, known as KitKat, is being delivered to Google Play Edition handsets from today, just days after Moto X owners in the US began getting their OS upgrade.
Eleven days after HTC handed off its KitKat code to Google for the HTC One Google Play Edition, owners of the device should start to see the update coming through via the Google Play store from today, according to a Google+ post from the Android team today. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play edition should also receive the update shortly.
The HTC One Google Play Edition lacks the Sense UI found on the standard edition One. When KitKat is delivered to the latter device early next year, it will also bring the latest version of Sense, upgrading the software version 5.5.
